What this changes

  • b-2 W7: a note warns "Also skip any choice that allows edits for the rest of the session, which an edit request may offer", next to the existing auto-mode note.
  • b-2 Y4 at Hinted: the goals name git status --porcelain, .practice/b-2-before.txt and .practice/b-2-plan.txt, so the step can be done without opening the exact command. The first goal now says to create the .practice folder first if it isn't there (added after the dry-run's first redirect failed on a missing folder). Hint 1 is a whole sentence.
  • The e2e row for Y4 expects "b-2-plan.txt is not there yet".

Claim table

Filled by a separate agent that tried to refute each changed claim:

Claim Source Result
An edit (file) permission request may offer a choice that allows edits for the rest of the session, so the learner should skip it (docs/beginner/02-permission-modes-and-plan-mode.md step 7; course/steps/b-2.md W7 note) Interactive mode: General controls; Configure permissions: Permission system Confirmed. interactive-mode.md: "On a file permission prompt ... With no field open, it selects the option that allows the action for the rest of the session, when the prompt offers that option". permissions.md table: "File modification | Edit/write files | Yes | Until session end", and "Sometimes a permission prompt offers only a one-time approval, with no "don't ask again" option and no option to allow the action for the rest of the session", which supports "may offer".
Don't press Shift+Tab at an edit request: on an edit request it picks the choice that allows edits for the rest of the session Interactive mode: General controls Confirmed, with a caveat the sentence leaves out. interactive-mode.md, Shift+Tab row: "On a file permission prompt, the same key closes an open comment field. With no field open, it selects the option that allows the action for the rest of the session, when the prompt offers that option". So with a comment field open, Shift+Tab closes the field and does not pick that choice. permissions.md: "Before v2.1.235, pressing Shift+Tab inside the field instead selected the option ...". That predates the v2.1.309 baseline, so the claim holds for the no-field case at the baseline.
Skip Yes, and switch to auto mode, which ends the step-by-step review (reworded sentence in the guide page; the same W7 note in b-2.md) Permission modes: Switch permission modes Confirmed. permission-modes.md: "Claude Code adds Yes, and switch to auto mode to a Bash command's permission prompt. Select it to approve the command and switch the session to auto mode." permissions.md: "in auto mode a classifier reviews actions instead of you". The option name matches the docs word for word, and the docs add that it "doesn't appear on every prompt".

Dry-run

Live dry-run on a worktree that combines 340, 345 and 346, with real Claude Code v2.1.309 at start and end, a clean configuration, macOS, driven only by what the app shows (logs ~/.learn-runs/logs/rel34y-b1/ and rel34y-b2/):

  • W7: pass. Both edit prompts offered "1. Yes / 2. Yes, and switch to accept edits (auto-approve file edits and common file commands) for this session (shift+tab) / 3. No"; the new note led to Yes. The npm test prompt offered "Yes, and switch to auto mode", which the existing note skips.
  • Y4 at Hinted: pass, from the goals and hint alone, never opening Show the exact command; the completion screen lists Y4 as "On your own". The redirect first failed with "No such file or directory" because project/.practice didn't exist: fixed in this PR.
  • Not in this PR:
    • The note "relative to the repository root" contradicts what git status --porcelain prints (project/src/config.js); ticket 349 owns that wording.
    • F7 from the earlier live run is still there: the Worked example's plan named the out-of-scope requests itself. This is how the real plan reads, so it's accepted rather than changed here.
    • W6 shows "Waiting for the session to end." while the plan must stay on screen: ticket 344 (Keep a verify beat watching until the learner acts, and name what it waits for (344) #231) fixes that.
