From a merge conflict
They are set at stack creation time, no need to wait for the containers to run since the data is not managed by docker.
This fixes an issue where the first `stack info` command after a start would not find the ports set
In the new system, the .env.slic.run file will always be loaded first, then the stack env file if any, then the project local configuration file. Some options like the CLI_VERBOSITY env var are still managed at the whole application level and stored in the .env.slic.run file.
Branch names such as `release/3.0.0` passed validation but were rejected when slic built the worktree directory name, because only slashes were replaced. Any character the directory name does not allow now becomes a dash, so `release/3.0.0` gets `<target>-release-3-0-0`.
When the worktree directory already held a detached worktree, `slic worktree add <branch>` treated it as a match and registered a stack for a branch that was not checked out. A detached worktree now counts as a branch mismatch, and the error reports it as a detached HEAD.
Target and branch completions were cached under one global key, so completing in a second repository or stack within the cache lifetime offered the first one's targets or branches. Both caches are now keyed by the working directory they were built from.
Bash completion failed outright without the bash-completion package, which macOS bash does not ship, because it relied on _init_completion. It now falls back to the word under the cursor. Zsh passed its one-based word index to a dispatcher that counts from zero, so it completed an empty word instead of the one being typed, and `slic st<Tab>` offered nothing. Words and completions now travel one per line instead of space-separated, so a stack path with a space, such as one under `Local Sites`, completes as a single escaped path in bash and zsh. Fish already reads completions one per line.
On Unix, pressing Escape in `slic use` blocked while waiting for the rest of an escape sequence, so the picker only closed after another key. The picker now waits 50ms for a following byte and treats silence as Escape; arrow keys still arrive as one sequence.
`slic php-version set <version> --skip-rebuild` stages the version in the current stack's state file, but applying it cleared the flag in the global run file, so every later `slic use` applied the staged version again. The flag is now cleared where it was staged, which also fixes `slic php-version reset`.
The use completer looked up targets without loading slic's environment, so it never found a plugins or themes directory and `slic use <Tab>` offered nothing. It now loads the same files and environment as the slic command, discarding anything the setup prints. The list of function files slic requires moves to src/includes.php so the command and the completer share one list.
Stopping a base stack that still had worktrees told users to pass --cascade, a flag no command accepts, so the stack could not be unregistered. The warning now lists the `slic worktree remove <branch>` command for each worktree.
`slic debug status` read the XDebug toggle instead of the debug one, so it showed XDebug's state.

Merging main into 3.0.0 brought back the fixed `${WORDPRESS_HTTP_PORT:-8888}:80` mapping in place of the multi-stack `0:80`, so every stack bound host port 8888 and a second stack could not start alongside the first. Each stack gets a Docker-assigned port again, which `slic stack info` reports.
Any stack ID with an @ counted as a worktree, so a base stack created under a directory such as `project@v2` was treated as a worktree: `slic use` refused to switch targets and the worktree compose override and variables were applied to it. Registered stacks now use their recorded worktree flag, and an existing path with an @ also resolves as a path.
`slic worktree add` and `slic worktree remove` took their first argument as the branch, so `slic worktree add -y fix/x` tried to create a branch named `-y`. They now skip the -y and --yes flags when reading the branch, as `slic worktree merge` already does.
The branch validator only checked the whole name, so names git rejects, such as `foo/.bar`, `foo.` or `-x`, passed and then failed later with a confusing git error. It now rejects a leading dash and the `@{` reflog syntax, and asks `git check-ref-format --branch` for the rest.
Once a stack had ports recorded, slic never read them again, so after the containers were recreated with new Docker-assigned ports, `slic stack info`, `slic xdebug status` and `slic here` kept showing the old ones. Migrated stacks were worse off, starting with fixed legacy ports that never matched. slic now reads the ports from Docker whenever the stack is running, records them when they change, and migrated stacks start without ports. Reading the ports of a stack with a stopped service, such as redis, also no longer prints a PHP deprecation notice.
slic only looked for an unregistered git worktree after matching the working directory to a stack, and a worktree sits inside its base stack's directory, so the base stack always matched and the registration prompt never appeared. Commands then ran against the base stack without notice. The check now runs first, asks at most once per process, and only in an interactive terminal so completions and scripts never wait on it. A worktree that is already registered is not offered again. Registering from the prompt now also writes the worktree's state file, as `slic worktree add` does; both take the WordPress, plugins and themes directories from the base stack.
`slic xdebug status` said the port and key could be overridden in .env.slic.local, but each stack's own XDebug port and key always win over those files. The message now names the `slic xdebug` command for the port and key, and .env.slic.local only for the host.
The bash completion script, the shell config `slic completion install` writes for bash and zsh, and the README snippets fell back to plain `readlink` when neither `realpath` nor `readlink -f` was available. A relative symlink target was then resolved against the current directory, so completions failed to load. They now follow the symlink chain with plain readlink and resolve relative targets against the link's directory, which works without either tool.

A home-relative stack path such as `SLIC_STACK='~/project@v2/plugins'` was rejected as an unknown worktree stack ID before `~` was expanded, so slic reported that no stack was found.
A worktree of a site stack whose content directory is not `wp-content`, such as `content/`, lost the base stack's container content path, so its plugins and themes were mounted under `/var/www/html/wp-content` instead. The worktree overlay and the path mapping `xdebug status` prints also hard-coded `wp-content`, so with the right content path alone the worktree would have landed outside the plugins directory WordPress loads, and the base checkout would have run in its place. Worktree stacks now keep the base stack's content path, and the overlay and the path mapping follow it.
Worktree detection only looked for the `.git` file in the current directory, so running slic from a subdirectory of an unregistered worktree picked the base stack without offering to register the worktree. Detection now starts from the root of the git checkout. The test drives slic through `script` to get a terminal, since slic only asks in one; it handles both the util-linux `script` on Linux and the BSD one on macOS.
Under rootless Docker slic runs WordPress as container root (`SLIC_UID=0`). On the first start against an empty `_wordpress`, WordPress's entrypoint copies core in with `tar --owner www-data` and, because it runs as root, without `--no-overwrite-dir`. That hands the stack's mounted plugins directory to `www-data`, so the user running slic can no longer create anything there and `slic worktree add` fails with "Permission denied". After slic starts a service, it now resets the owner of the mounted plugins and themes directories when `SLIC_UID` is `0`. Container root is the user running slic, so the directories go back to that user. Only the mount points change; their contents keep their owners. With any other `SLIC_UID`, WordPress runs unprivileged, leaves the directories alone, and slic does too.

slic builds the `chown` that gives the plugins and themes directories back as a shell command, so a `SLIC_WP_CONTENT_CONTAINER_DIR` containing a space, set through `.env.slic.local`, split each path in two and the reset failed. Each path now reaches `chown` as one argument.
`slic use` recreates the running PHP services itself when the new target needs different mounts, so it skipped the owner reset that follows a normal start. On a site that installs WordPress in a subdirectory, a plugin target mounts slic's own `_wordpress`, which is empty the first time, and WordPress running as container root copies core in and hands the mounted plugins directory to `www-data` again. slic now resets the owner after recreating WordPress too.
This PR replaces the #225 one and builds on the multi-stacks support to implement worktree support.
If I read it correctly, this should also replace #220.

Deterministic stack names and XDebug ports
By default, docker would assign random names to the stacks created and would allocate random ports.
To avoid having to reconfigure the IDE on each
slic down&&slic upcycle, the multi-stack feature build the project name and XDebug remote port deterministically from the path of the stack.I.e. the stack for

xdebugcommands have been updated to take that into account and provide the correct information depending on the stack.Worktree support
Building on this multi-stack support, understanding the worktree support is easier.
For "worktree" here I mean the "git worktree" support; I will not delve into what
git worktreedoes, but in very short terms it allows copying the repository to a linked directory; it replaces changing branch with changing directory.Git branch vs worktree flow
This is required to understand how
slicwraps the worktree functionality. To "ground" the example I will usethe-events-calendarplugin located at/Users/lucatume/tec-dev/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar.In this example I'm working on two issues:

Work on
fix/issue-1, run some test using slic:And when done change to
fix/issue-2:Again work in
fix/issue-2, run some tests and wrap the fix. This is fine, but the use of worktrees could get rid of some lull times.
With git worktree
This is the new directory structure:
To work on
fix/issue-1I would need to change target:BUT all the test files are set to use
the-events-calendardirectory (without the-fix-issue-1postfix) and, in short, what I will be testing will always bethe-events-calendar.One thing to note is the volume binding done in the
slicandwordpressservices in the stack:This means the directory structure will be reflected in the container:
So, worktree support is not really workable out of the box.
Slic worktree support
Slic wraps in very limited capacity some git worktree commands, notably for this example, the commnands will change to:
The same directory structures have been created, but
sliccreated a dedicated stack for each worktree under the hood. This means this flow is now possible:
Notably,
slicuses the "shadowing" provided by volume binding override to have these volume binds in thefix/issue-1worktree:And these volume binds in the
fix/issue-2worktree:So the
usetarget (the-events-calendarin this example) is actually from the worktree directory.Yes, the same would be true for any other worktree. The idea is that having them there will not cause issues. WordPress uses the plugin directory name to identify the plugins, so they will be just like any other unused plugin directory.
The PR contains many more commands and changes, but all of them geared toward supporting this new features.
Tests
This PR contains the setup and scaffolding of PHPUnit tests as well. The complete body of tests is in #238.
