remctl has a number of nice inbuilt tools for diagnosing setup issues, particularly regarding macOS permissions issues. In my experience, permissions are a bit of a nightmare when trying to do any sort of automation with agents - the responsible process is often buried and tied to a specific app version (e.g. Claude desktop) or python language version (e.g. Hermes) that can go out of date.
