Love the simplicity of the app. Is it possible to store all the app configs, notes in an user accessible directory?
My intention is to sync them via Syncthing (I'm using "Local Discovery" mode only i.e. no internet usage) to multiple devices.

e.g. All KOReader (.lua based project) settings are user accessible hence can be synchronize to multiple devices. Similarly my keepass database (.kdbx files) are synchronized across multiple devices via Syncthing and I'm using different clients to edit/access the files.

So essentially you can export notes to .json or .md format, sync them, then import them in other devices.

Syncing automatically to a .json would involve writing to that file everytime a note is added, marked or deleted, and if someway that one file gets corrupt all notes are gone and app looks empty (though syncthing has versioning so its not worrying). This is why I didn't go for that data model for karui from the beginning (though it's not difficult to add now as a toggleable option).

Orgzly supports same features but prefers manual syncing (features a sync button on navbar). This to me seems like a good option. But that again adds one more thing to remember

But Orgzly also supports Auto-sync (with lot of conditions) opt-in i.e.disabled by default from settings which is good option.
Yes data-corruption (can happen if file is modified from multiple devices at the exact same time) is an real issue and nobody wants to experience it that's why KeePassDX recommends to disable Autosave. I'm using keepass ~4years and never experienced file-corruption.

We can take same opt-in Auto-sync approach. So users who never edit files on multiple devices at the same time can turn on Auto-sync and users who are bit cautious (for majority) don't have to do anything (as disabled by default), they'll get used to manual/force-sync from the beginning.

If you want more you can set Auto-Backup as separate feature than Auto-Sync.
In Auto-Backup we backup to a desired location (different than where the app look for actual file i.e. on which Auto-Sync operate) + number of latest files to store (older ones gets auto deleted). Some android apps does this e.g. AntennaPod, Tasksorg, Goodtime etc. Even on desktop KeePassXC supports it.

Personally I think Auto-Backup (+ Auto-Sync both) is unnecessary feature for such simple app as Syncthing can does the same job for users. Not good idea to add features just because you can :) (But it has its usecase for users who rely on other cloud services/apps.)

Auto sync setup is now possible with the latest release of karui, save to .md file and sync between all your devices.

.md format was chosen so you are never locked into karui, or to any particular style of app , you can edit and maintain notes even with notepad++

Beta feature though, keep backups.

Version 1.9 improves the sync feature, it's still beta but dependable.
