Fixed — and thanks for catching this, it's a real bug in how we shipped it.

Root cause: Apple's actual mechanism for opting out of iOS 26 Liquid Glass is a build-time Info.plist key, but the previous implementation wrote to UserDefaults instead — a value UIKit never reads for this, so the toggle silently did nothing no matter how many times you restarted.

A plain Info.plist key can't back a live, per-user Settings toggle either (it's baked into the app bundle at build time), so the fix takes a different route: it directly restyles the actual on-screen tab bar to render as opaque instead of Liquid Glass, reacting to the setting immediately — no restart needed anymore.

One honest caveat: I wasn't able to get a clean live simulator screen recording to confirm the exact visual result in this session (tooling hiccup on my end, unrelated to the code), so if you still see glass after updating, please reopen with a screenshot and I'll take another pass.

Here are the screens :

Thanks for the screenshots. They still show the old "Restart the app for this to take effect" hint under the toggle — that hint was removed in the fix (the toggle now applies live), so those screens look like they're from a build from before the fix, which hasn't been released yet (it's going out in 5.4). Could you retest once 5.4 is out? If the tab bar still looks like glass with the toggle on, please attach a fresh screenshot and I'll dig in again.
