Why

• Puppet::Util::Json ported to the json 3 API ([Backport 8.x] Port Puppet::Util::Json to the json 3 API OpenVoxProject/openvox#721, the 8.x backport of #706). Without it, an agent or server whose Ruby has json 3 installed fails on every JSON request ([Bug]: Backport json 3 compatibility fix (8530418b) to 8.x OpenVoxProject/openvox#720).
• Augeas 1.14.1 -> 1.15.0, via puppet-runtime 2026.10.12.2.
• openvox-server 8.17.0 requires openvox-agent >= 8.29.0, so 8.31.0 satisfies it without a server bump.

The package is published in the openvox8 repos for EL9 and EL10 and the Ubuntu 24.04 apt component, and as macOS dmgs (arm64 and x86_64). The CLAUDE.md Tart example is bumped to match.

Verification

Run on the Hetzner lab on 2026-10-16, restored from clean-8 (agent 8.30.0, server and openvoxdb 8.17.0). r10k deployed this branch as production_agent_8_31_0, and each node ran puppet agent -t --environment production_agent_8_31_0 twice:

• Master (AlmaLinux 10), agent01 (AlmaLinux 9) and agent02 (Ubuntu 24.04): openvox-agent 8.30.0 -> 8.31.0 in one run (exit 2, 12 to 27 s), second run exit 0. The first runs also carried the usual corrective changes after a snapshot restore (cloud-init's sudoers file).
• puppetserver, puppetdb, openvoxview and openvox-gui were active afterwards, and OpenVoxDB lists all three nodes.
• puppetserver isn't restarted by an agent-only upgrade. It loads Puppet's Ruby code from the agent package, so until its next restart the master keeps running the 8.30.0 code it already loaded, including the old Puppet::Util::Json. Nothing broke, and later catalogs compiled normally. If the server profile should restart puppetserver when openvox-agent changes, that's a separate change.

After merge, openvox9 needs rebasing onto production (#92 targets openvox9).
