I have many PNG files (under Linux), where the exifread only returns
WARNING:exifread:PNG file does not have exif data.
If I set the logging.level to DEBUG, I get this:

JPG and TIFF files (exported by darktable from the same RAW) work and exiv2 can show the EXIF tags of the PNG.
