🎉 Packer Plugin for VMware vSphere v2.5.0 was released today. 🎉

This release follows up the v2.4.0 and v2.3.0 releases over the last few weeks to further enhance the plugin's capabilities.

Enhancements

• Remove a Vrtual Trusted Platform Module - Added the option to remove a vTPM device from a machine image at the end of a build before an export operation. This allows you to export the machine image to a vSphere Content Library or as an OVF/OVA artifact without being blocked by the presence of the virtual device. If a workload then requires vTPM when being deployed from the machine image you can attach the virtual trusted platform module during a provisioning task/workflow in your automation (or manually)

Bug Fixes

• Better Support for Machine Images with Multiple Network Adapters: Fixed an issue where builds could fail or take too long waiting for an IP address if there were more that one network adapter on the virtual machine. This required an enhancement that add the ip_wait_adapter_index on vsphere-iso and vsphere-clone builders. By using this option, you can specify whihc network adapter is required to aquire an IP address to proceed with the machine image build. This uses for environments where multiple NICs may receive routable addresses. For example, if you have a machine image being built from vsphere-iso with 4 network adapters (1,2,3,4) and you wanted adapter 3 to be used for the IP address you'd provide its zero-based index of 2. The plugin will then state that it's waiting on a specific network adapter in the console flow and the logs will also show the associated MAC Address of that adapter. The result is a stable and deterministic build using the desired network adapater.
