Description

Current Behavior

Single newlines (\n) in markdown content are collapsed and rendered as a single space, following standard CommonMark behavior:

Input:  "line1\nline2"
Output: "line1 line2" (rendered on one line)

Only double newlines (\n\n) create paragraph breaks:

Input:  "line1\n\nline2"
Output:
line1

line2

Desired Behavior

An option to treat single newlines as <br> elements (hard line breaks):

Input:  "line1\nline2"
Output:
line1
line2

Use Case

This is particularly useful for:

1. Chat/messaging applications - Users expect pressing Enter to create a new line
2. Content copied from plain text - Preserving original line breaks from user input
3. Poetry/lyrics/addresses - Content where line breaks are semantically meaningful
4. AI streaming responses - LLM outputs often use single newlines for readability
