Control the width of the VALUES column

I have a table which contains a column for currency so I have used the .col_vals_in_set() method to determine whether the code is one of the allowed ISO_4217 values. However, the resulting validation table lists all 179 codes in the VALUES column so it is very wide. Is there any way to define a max width? I have scoured the documentation, but not been able to find anything.

I noticed in your Advanced Validation example, the VALUES are truncated, with a ..., how is that achieved?

Thanks for the question! The report table can be obtained as a Great Tables object with .get_tabular_report(). That object can be modified with GT methods. The one you need is .cols_width(). The … occurs at the end of a single line when there is no more space left.

Given that the set of values will be very large, another idea is to add a source note with GT’s .tab_source_note(). A really good idea for a future feature is to add a note= parameter to each validation method (so a footnote gets added).

Also, it's been mentioned before that there should be a guide (or something executable) that let's people know what the column names are (the labels mask their names) so that customizations with GT are a bit easier. I'll put a section in the User Guide about customizing report tables with Great Tables.
