Full Changelog: 7.0.0.Alpha4...v7.0.0.Beta1

---

This discussion was created from the release v7.0.0.Beta1.

[darshanime-d11]

i am using vertx 5.0.0.CR5, with resteasy providing the JAX-RS implementation, but it seems even v7.0.0.Beta1 is not compatible? Any ideas when will vertx5 be supported?

[jamezp]

RESTEasy 7.0 should be going public soon. I do not know the time frame for a final release. However, I've got no objection to this if a final is out soon.

That said, I do wonder if we should move the Vert.x integration out of RESTEasy and in to its own repository like we did for Jetty, https://github.com/resteasy/resteasy-jetty. It makes it a lot easier to move these to newer versions and keep RESTEasy on it's own release cycle.

[darshanime-d11]

RESTEasy 7.0 should be going public soon

Some more context on the issue; vertx5 made some changes in the netty apis that it exposes, see ref. These apis are removed in vertx5 but are being used in resteasy. Moreover, the vertx version that is explicitly supported in 7.0 is still vertx4.

[jamezp]

Good to know. That is one the reason I feel we should move the Vert.x support to it's own project so we could say have 1.0 for Vert.x 4 and 2.0 for Vert.x 5. If we need a RESTEasy 7.0.0.Final before Vert.x is final we're kind of stuck.

[darshanime-d11]

we should move the Vert.x support to it's own project

that sounds great! I'd be willing to submit a patch to support vertx5 if that happens!

[anbusampath]

we should move the Vert.x integration out of RESTEasy

This will be good move.
