can only login using my computers IP

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. logining in with network name instead of ip

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
my entire network.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
latestest cyanogen 4.2.4 android1.6

Please provide any additional information below.
I can work with it when using my computers network ip. when I enter my 
network name or workground ie mshome. nothing happens..
my ip isn't permmenet so this is annoying.

any workaround?
