Before you write the report
Read the REPORTING_ISSUES.md file in the main repository and prepare data mentioned there which looks relevant to you issue.
Describe the bug
When I select the By Pass Tray as Paper Source, the printer uses Tray 1 instead, event though there is paper ready in the bypass tray.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Print document
- Select Page Setup > Paper Source > By-pass Tray
- Print
Expected behavior
Selecting the Bypass Tray should make the printer use the paper in the bypass tray rather than the internal tray.
Screenshots
If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem.
System Information:
- Linux 6.12.57+deb13-amd64 (2025-11-05) x86_64 GNU/Linux
- Devuan Excalibur
- OpenPrinting CUPS 2.4.10
- Kyocera ECOSYS P2040dn
Additional context
Installing the Kyocera drivers from the Kyocera website allows me to print from the By-pass Tray, though it calls it the MP Tray instead. Worryingly, installing these brings up a warning that we're ditching proprietary drivers and going driverless now, but this sounds very concerning to me after 30 years of getting printers to work with Linux.
