Create a correct url

In the Nginx application, how can I create a URL http://example.com:8080/myapp ?
Because I added it in the Proxy Host, the result is http://example.com/myapp:8080

To use http://example.com:8080/myapp, enter only example.com in Domain Names and expose NPM’s HTTP listener on public port 8080.

For Docker Compose, replace NPM’s 80:80 HTTP mapping with:

  - "8080:80"

Keep the other mappings, then run docker compose up -d from the directory containing that Compose file. NPM listens on container port 80; the mapping is host-port:container-port.

Set Forward Hostname / IP and Forward Port to the application's address and listening port—the same address and port you use to reach it from NPM. Those fields select the backend, not the public port. If 8080 means only your application's port, set Forward Port to 8080 and keep public HTTP on 80: the URL is then http://example.com/myapp.

Enter /myapp in the browser URL. In http://example.com/myapp:8080, :8080 belongs to the path.

I checked current NPM 2.16.0's templates and tested nginx 1.24.0 on Ubuntu 24.04 with an echo backend:

$ curl --noproxy '*' --resolve example.com:8080:127.0.0.1 http://example.com:8080/myapp
upstream URI=/myapp

I didn't run the NPM container or your application; its /myapp support and redirects remain untested.

Success check: opening http://example.com:8080/myapp should serve your application with /myapp as the requested path.
