How to migrate to MagicStorageExtra

After I was playing for a long time with both MagicStorage and MagicStorageExtra enabled (and extra variant not working whole time) when I left only Extra enabled All extra storage elements appeared as white solid blocks without storage core.
Is there a migration process required? Is it even possible?

There is currently no pretty/easy way to do this.
As it is at the moment, you have to enable both mods, empty the storage, replace the storage blocks with the other mod's blocks, return the items into the new storage, then disable the other mod.

How horrible, how about a not pretty way? Can I go to some sort of editor to change block ids or what Terraria have? I know C, C++ and Go, if it will look like a lot of manual work I will probably assemble some app to do that...

It would be possible to add conversion functionality to the mod itself, but it would take a lot of effort I'm hesitant to devote due to the two mods being merged into one for 1.4

Will it be merged? How soon then? And how do I differentiate 2 systems, they are called and look same?

For 1.4 tml, the merge already happened
For 1.3 tml, I don't know when or even if it will happen
