In the Windows 10 app, when you click an otpauth://... link it opens the app, but it only adds a new code if the app isn't running. If the app is already running it just switches to the app and does nothing.
Could you make it so it always adds a new code if the app is running or not?
I use the app for development so do a lot of adding and removing codes!
